Job Description: Network SD-WAN Engineer
Position Overview:
The Network SD-WAN Engineer will play a crucial role in planning, designing, implementing, and optimizing our organization's Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) infrastructure. This position requires a deep understanding of network engineering principles, particularly related to SD-WAN technologies. The Network SD-WAN Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network performance, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement SD-WAN solutions in alignment with business requirements, considering scalability, security, and network performance.
2. Develop and maintain network documentation, configuration, and change management procedures related to SD-WAN infrastructure.
3. Collaborate with network architects and stakeholders to define and execute network upgrade or expansion projects.
4. Monitor and analyze network performance to identify and resolve issues proactively, ensuring optimal network availability and performance.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems related to SD-WAN infrastructure, working closely with vendors and internal teams.
6. Develop and implement network security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
7. Stay up to date with emerging SD-WAN technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential benefits and relevance to the organization.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of SD-WAN infrastructure with other IT systems and applications.
9. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
10. Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely response and resolution for network-related emergencies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Network Engineer with a focus on SD-WAN technologies.
3. In-depth knowledge of SD-WAN architectures, including understanding of overlay and underlay networks, routing protocols, and QoS policies.
4. Strong understanding of network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN, and VLANs.
5. Hands-on experience with SD-WAN vendor solutions, such as Cisco Viptela, VMware Velocloud, or Silver Peak.
6. Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, including packet capture analysis and network performance monitoring systems.
7. Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists.
8. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex network issues and provide effective solutions.
9. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
10. Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or SD-WAN certifications are highly desired.
